About
Dr. Kerstetter conducted satellite tagging of pelagic fishes from recreational gear and descriptive research of commercial fishing gear in the southeastern United States. He has continued other biological investigations of billfish and swordfish, tunas, elasmobranchs, and commercial fishing gear technology, including ageing and biogeochemical trophic analyses and participated in development and continuing execution (five years as Weighmaster) of an annual scholarship-generating fishing tournament for the Oceanographic Center marine science program. He
created and taught two marine fisheries science courses for NSU, as well as two additional courses in fisheries policy and management and bycatch research. Dr. Kerstetter is a major advisor to a number of thesis-track graduate students in the Master of Science program in marine science. He teaches general biology course (with laboratory sections) and elasmobranch biology course at main campus for undergraduate biology majors.
