About

Janine Morris, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing and Communication in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. She is the Graduate Student Coordinator for the Write from the Start Writing and Communication Center and the Department of Writing and Communication’s Alumni Relations Manager. She earned her Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature with a specialization in Composition and Rhetoric (along with a graduate certificate in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies) from the University of Cincinnati in 2016.

She has presented at national and regional conferences and her work has been published in PedagogyCollege English Association (CEA) CriticComputers and CompositionComposition Studies, and Community Literacy Journal. She was an editorial assistant for Composition Studies (2014-2016), and is a reviewer for Composition StudiesPeitho, and Queen City Writers. She is currently the Florida state representative for the Southeastern Writing Center Association.

Dr. Morris is co-PI of a cross-institutional study of online first-year writing student backgrounds and expectations, supported by a 2017 Conference on College Composition and Communication Research Initiative Grant. The research team also includes Catrina Mitchum, Ph.D., University of Arizona, Marcela Hebbard, M.A., University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Kevin DePew, Ph.D., Old Dominion University.
