Renu Desai

I am an educator because I especially enjoy sharing what I have learned with others. I believe that everyone is capable of learning and wants to learn. In my role as an accounting professor, I work extremely hard to motivate and challenge students to master difficult technical material and to connect it with their personal and professional goals. I feel overjoyed when I sense that students are growing in self-confidence about the subject matter I am teaching and that they appreciate the challenges and rewards that come from learning.

I graduated from the University of Bombay with a bachelor's of accounting and went on to become certified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India while working as an intern with an audit firm. After that, I pursued higher studies and earned the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from University of Arkansas.

After graduate school, I worked for two and a half years for Deloitte & Touche LLP as a senior associate in the Audit & Assurance practice at the World Financial center in New York City. My professional experience also includes working for Pepsi Bottling Group for a year and a half as a senior financial analyst.

After I gained requisite experience in the field of accounting, I decided to pursue my long held desire for teaching and research and I went on to receive the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration (Ph.D.) from University of Central Florida in Orlando.
