About

Sara (Suri) Weisfeld-Spolter joined the Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship in October 2008 and is currently a Professor of Marketing and a certified Korn Ferry Coach. With nearly 1000 citations, a top 10% RI Score of 644.3 and 27,890 reads, Suri is recognized nationally for her work in the field of consumer behavior.

Based on her excellence in scholarly productivity and teaching, she was named the 2022-23 HCBE Professor of the year, received the 2021 HCBE Research excellence award, 2020 HCBE Teaching excellence award, a prestigious 2019 research Emerald Literati Award and the 2016-17 HCBE Professor of the year award. Suri has been published in Marketing Science, Psychology & Marketing, International Marketing Review and other premier marketing journals and has presented papers at many premier marketing conferences including Association of Consumer Research (ACR), Academy of Marketing Science (AMS), and American Marketing Association Marketing Educators' Conference (AMA) conferences.

An accomplished researcher who has received distinguished research and teaching awards, her research focuses primarily on different aspects of consumer behavior including gift giving, omni-channel consumers, cultural influences, loneliness and innovative teaching pedagogy approaches. Her recent work on Pandemic Teaching Pedagogy received the 2021 honorable mention distinction for the Journal of Marketing Education’s Outstanding Article of the Year award and is currently amongst the journal’s top downloaded papers. Suri has been interviewed by the Sun-Sentinel, featured on live TV by NBC6 in the Mix, referenced in the Daily Stat by Harvard Business Review and served as the Grand Marshall at the 2017 commencement ceremony.

In addition to her research, Suri has taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate marketing courses. She has also taught marketing theory and research methods in the doctoral program, served as chair of the doctoral program and chaired several dissertation committees. She especially enjoys teaching consumer behavior and marketing research at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she earned her Ph.D., M.S. and B.B.A. in marketing at Baruch College, City University of NY. In her spare time, you can find her reading a book on the beach, mentoring students or volunteering in her community. She considers her biggest accomplishment to date to be her wonderful children and family.
