About

Ying Ma is Assistant Professor of Literature and Language in the Department of Humanities and Politics. Her research interests include Asian American literature, Chinese language and culture, comparative race and ethnic studies, queer theory, queer of color critique, and trans studies. Her dissertation investigates how queer Asian authors take the traumas of their own, their families, and other oppressed groups as raw materials, reframing them into storytelling, and imagine a queer future that fosters solidarity and community. At NSU, Professor Ma teaches courses in world literature, history and structure of English, gender studies, Chinese, and Asian philosophy.
